Contest of the Best Wines in France: the winners
The 61st edition of the Best Wines in France competition in Macon has includes 9,203 different wines from all of France. More than 2000 tasting judges were present this year to evaulate each wine using very precise criteria. They take into account the color, smell, and how it all comes together and each is considered for one of 803 gold medals, 614 silver medals, and 1,207 bronze medals. The region of Bordeaux with 473 medals and the Rhone region with 351 medals were on top of the wine regions followed by Bourgogne, Alsace, and Beaujolais.
Jacques Legros, journalist from TF1, wine enthusiast and owner of a vineyard in Cahors was guest of honor this year. Happening at the same time as the competition is a wine exhibition which had more than 8,256 visitors. Finally, on June 16th, the Best Wine in France competition awards its winner trophy to the Naulet vineyard located in Saint-Emilion. Every year, the winners trophy honors an owner who is a regular among the winners in the competition.
